3D Scanning

3D Scanning Services
SSEH has an extensive background in 3D scanning for Aerodynamic development, reverse engineering and for CFD. There is nowhere better suited as we know the level of detail required and so can capture your geometry accurately and efficiently.
We have been scanning multiple disciplines of athletes for years, and so have refined a fast and accurate 3D scanning approach for participant comfort and a processing method fit for all applications. We can take geometry straight from the scanner, helping reduce your capture and CFD costs significantly, before helping you improve it.

FAQ ❚
- Are there any health risks from being 3D scanned?
Our scanning approach uses structured light, meaning our cameras capture from 8-30 photo’s per second with a flash. If you have a sensitivity to flash/strobe lighting, please let us know.
- How long does it take to scan a cyclist?
Using our latest ARTEC Leo scanner, our engineers can capture a complete cyclist within a couple of minutes… As long as you can keep as still as possible.
- How much does it cost to scan an athlete?
Scanning costs are down to your requirements. We charge an hourly rate, which make us very competitive to other 3D Scanning consultancies and so we find ourselves scanning all sorts of stuff! 3D scanning can cost as little as £95.
- What objects can’t you scan?
Highly reflective, shiny, black and transparent items can be difficult to scan. We prepare these surfaces with polish/masking tape to help. If you have any concerns about this, you can always ask us about your application.
- Do I need to bring anything or prepare my component to help with the scanning?
We have the hardware, environment and consumables required to scan anything you require. If your item needs assembly/disassembly, we ask that you have any tools required with the item.
